Encouraged by mentors and colleagues within the PHRMA community, he completed PHRMA’s certification study group, earned his PHR and SHRM-CP, and built lasting professional connections that continue to influence his work today.

“I formed enduring professional relationships through my study group — people who supported one another through our exams and whose connections have stayed with me throughout my career.”

After taking a professional hiatus to pursue new career opportunities, complete his MBA, and expand his work in higher education, Jeffrey eventually found his way back to the community. He stepped into the role of PSU HRMA Advisor, rejoined PHRMA, and began serving as College Relations Director.

Through his volunteer leadership, Jeffrey has helped strengthen connections between students, professionals, and the broader HR community. He dedicates his time to mentoring future HR leaders, creating opportunities for engagement and learning, and helping others find confidence, connection, and belonging within the profession.

For Jeffrey, volunteering became about something bigger than career advancement.

“I had reached a point in my career when I found more value and fulfillment from being part of a community and contributing to a community that uplifts others than from pursuing my own advancement.”

His impact is especially evident in the students and emerging professionals he supports. One of the things Jeffrey is most proud of is seeing others step into their expertise, strengthen their organizations, and continue the cycle of giving back.

“I am proud when a former student is working for a former employee, owning her power and expertise, making her team and her business partners better. I am proud when a former student returns and gives their time and support because their experiences in the chapter meant so much to them.”

Jeffrey’s reflections also highlight the volunteers who shaped his own journey — individuals who met people where they were in their careers, created different ways to engage and grow, and generously shared their time, expertise, and support.

“I am proud when we welcome others into our spaces. I am proud every time a member of this community receives well deserved recognition.”

Jeffrey’s story is a powerful reminder of the impact volunteers can have across careers, classrooms, and communities.

Jeffrey, thank you for your leadership, service, and dedication as a PHRMA board member and leader of our College Relations efforts. Your commitment to supporting students, building connections, and creating pathways for future HR professionals has made a meaningful impact on our community. We are grateful for the time, care, and expertise you bring to PHRMA and proud to celebrate this well deserved recognition with you.
