FAQs - Membership Changes

Here are some questions you may have about your PHRMA membership changes. 

  1. Why is my membership expiration date changing?
    SHRM is currently working on technology that will give them the opportunity to collect both SHRM dues and PHRMA dues during your renewal time with SHRM.
  2. Why would I want SHRM to collect both my SHRM and PHRMA dues?
    This makes it easier for you! One transaction saves you time and money. Additionally, if your employer pays your dues, you only have to submit one transaction for your expense report!
  3. Why are my dues increasing?
    PHRMA has not increased membership dues since the 1990s. Over the past 20+ years, costs continue to rise which makes running a non-profit organization difficult to continue. We do everything we can to keep your costs low. If you have questions or concerns, please let us know
  4. How do I know when my SHRM membership expires?
    - Simply login to your SHRM membership profile
    Click on your name in the top right corner
    - Click on "My account"
    - Your expiration date is listed right there
  5. What are the benefits of PHRMA membership?
    The #1 reason HR professionals join PHRMA and other SHRM affiliate chapters throughout the world are for networking opportunities. Are you an HR department of 1 with questions and problems that no one at your workplace can help you with? Do you simply want to meet other HR professionals who you can bounce ideas off of?   6. Why do I have to be a current member of SHRM in order to be a member of PHRMA? 
    SHRM offers amazing benefits that PHRMA simply does not have the resources to offer. Benefits like "ask an HR advisor" service which allows you to email or call an HR certified professional who can help you with any problem you are having. They also have thousands of tools like interview questions, policy guides, Q & As, forms, etc...!
