We stand in solidarity with our Black communities

Dear HR community,

We have drafted and re-drafted this letter more times than we can count but the right words don’t seem to come together. We are hurt, angry and fed up by the recent, senseless killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. These tragedies have not been happening just over a few days or weeks, but for hundreds of years and across multiple generations.

Throughout these drafts, one message is clear:
We stand in solidarity with our Black communities in the fight against systemic racism.

Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. urged, “We need leaders not in love with money but in love with justice. Not in love with publicity but in love with humanity. Leaders who can subject their particular egos to the pressing urgencies of the great cause of freedom.”

Better workplaces can only be created by each of us doing better. As HR and People professionals with tremendous power in shaping equitable organizations, we’re poised to affect the changes we want to see. PHRMA will stand by your side and support your efforts in opening minds, opening hearts, listening with empathy, asking questions and caring for each other.

Please join us today to discuss how we can continue to support each other in building a more just community - register here. Until then, please refer to these resources to help you as you take next steps.

In solidarity,

PHRMA Board of Directors
