LUNCHEON TOPIC: The workforce of the future is changing in its demographics, its attitudes and its want and needs almost as fast as technology is changing. For managers and HR professionals, this will mean a radical shift in the way we conduct business and manage talent ten years from now. Organizations need to prepare today for the seismic shifts that are coming so that they will not be caught unaware and will remain a viable entity in the future. Management expert Margaret Morford will walk participants through what these shifts will be, some of which are in the infancy stages so they are not even on the radar screens of most organizations. She will offer practical suggestions for things employers need to be doing today in order to prepare as well as protect themselves from the legal liabilities that will arise from some of these trends and shifts. Participants need to start today to be ready for what the workplace will look like in 2014 and even 2020! Don't be caught unaware.

ABOUT the SPEAKER: Margaret is President for The HR Edge, Inc., an international management consulting and training company. Her clients have included Lockheed Martin, Chevron, Time Warner, U.S. Secret Service, Sara Lee Foods, Home and Garden Television, Roche, Nationwide Insurance, NAPA Auto Parts, Homeland Security, New York Presbyterian Hospital (Cornell & Columbia Medical Centers), Deloitte, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Vanderbilt University, Comcast, Fox Broadcasting, Verizon, and various local and state governments. Afternoon Workshop: “Decrease Trend, Improve Outcomes, Increase Productivity”: Tools for Employers – worksite clinics and obesity management.

The afternoon session will take a deeper dive into how employers and employees have control of and are able to impact the cost and effectiveness of healthcare coverage.

PHRMA, affiliate organizations & OCHCP members $50; non-members $65

Session Summary:

Learn what tools employers can use to decrease trend, improve outcomes and increase productivity. Understand what employer-sponsored onsite medical clinics entail and feasibility for an employer, the process employers have followed to develop onsite clinics, and a successful onsite clinic. Understand the economics of obesity, the obesity care continuum, recommendations for employee benefit design for minimally-invasive procedures for bariatric surgery.

Building the Business Case for Onsite Clinics: Brian Kleppper, Ph.D., Chief Development Officer for WeCare TLC, LLC, and Managing Principal of Healthcare Performance Inc, a consulting practice based in Atlantic Beach, FL will present an overview of employer onsite medical clinics. His presentation will include a) details of a clinic, b) decision making process for determining whether an onsite clinic would be feasible for an employer, and c) the business case for onsite clinics.

Intel Case Study: Karen Griffith RN, BSN, MBA, COHN-S, Global Health and Wellbeing, Sr. Project Manager, Intel Corporation will present the data analysis process that Intel used to determine feasibility of their onsite medical clinics, the implementation of the clinics, and the outcomes that they have demonstrated over the past five years.

Shared Employee Clinic Care Study: Sheryl Hershey, Human Resources & Safety Manager, Bellingham Cold Storage, Bellingham, WA will discuss the successful launch of an onsite clinic that is shared with another company, this is a compelling case study since both companies have fewer than 300 employees, since Oregon and Southwest Washington have many small and mid-size companies.

Obesity Management: Valerie J. Halpin, M.D., Board Certified General Surgeon, Legacy Good Samaritan Weight Management Institute will address the economics of obesity, the obesity care continuum, benefit design & requirements for bariatric surgery, and minimally-invasive surgery options for bariatric surgery.
