"Hiring Diverse Teams - Our Ongoing Journey with Bias"

There’s a lot of talk about hiring people from diverse backgrounds. It can be overwhelming. We’d like to share our learnings on how focusing on unconscious bias in the recruiting process can be a great boost to your D&I efforts. We are not experts in unconscious bias nor can we proclaim that our ideas are “best practices.” We’re just two people with a passion for recruiting and inclusivity. Join us for an interactive presentation and discussion designed to help us all boost awareness.

 

About the Speakers:

Julie Boardman

Julie partners with leaders to elevate business performance and culture through innovative talent strategies. She has held senior HR leadership roles in 100-year-old companies (Nintendo, Coors), rapid-growth consumer brands (Starbucks, Nike), and millennial-attractive tech companies (Simple). Julie is a thought-leader in integrated talent strategies, organization design, people analytics, and change management. She is especially passionate about reinventing performance management as a driver of engagement, performance, and growth.

 

Dan Fick

Dan’s experience has primarily been with fast-paced scaling organizations seeking to quickly grow while developing people and processes.  Most recently, the Director of Recruiting for a local fin/tech company hiring at the rate of 200 hires per year and from diverse backgrounds nearly 40% of the time.  Previously, the Director of Talent Acquisition and HR for a local consulting agency that scaled from less than 100 hires to over 500 placements per year.  While not an expert in bias, Dan has a passion for helping teams become more inclusive to create belonging.
