Welcome to those who have recently joined our SIG group and welcome back to our many other members! We are strong in our membership and encourage all who have expressed interest in Training and Development to join us at one of our meetings this year. We hope to bring a different perspective and focus to our group this year. 

 

The Training & Development SIG provides HR professionals with a peer group that is focused on organization needs to acquire, build and transfer important competencies.  Through this group we strive to build relationships between its members and to encourage dialogue about the various aspects of training as well as how we can best meet the needs of the group. 

 

Please join us for breakfast and lively conversation at our quarterly meetings where we learn new tools and methods for training, as well as ways to evaluate the results of training effort.  Training/Development Specialists, HR Generalists, OD/Training Manager, and anyone else wishing to learn more about this dynamic area in Human Resources are welcome to attend. (Our other dates this year will be: June 8, September 14, and November 9, 2010). 

 

Our first program of the new year will be March 9, 2010 from 7:30 to 9:00 am.  

 

We are very excited to have Paul Spindel join us for our breakfast meeting. 

 

 

Paul brings over 18 years of Human Resources experience with Marriott and Nike. Using his M.A. in Organizational Behavior as a foundation, he specializes in management and supervisory development, team building, strategic planning and executive meeting facilitation. Paul's strong business approach to human resource issues win him accolades, return business and recognition as a keynote speaker. He is sought after as a trainer and coach because of his tremendous energy and sense of humor, with the unique ability to teach through story and example. Paul has taught at several universities and conducted hundreds of training programs for employees at all levels, both nationally and internationally. Paul's global experience includes teaching Customer Service and Human Resources to Russian Hotel executives in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and Train the Trainer to Albanian television executives. Paul's clients include Bullseye Glass, Volkswagon of America, Oregon Steel, Linn-Benton Community College, the Oregon Employer Council, the Leatherman Tool Group, Miller Paint Company and Portland State University.
